Biodiversity Assessments

The assessment focuses on collecting baseline data on flora and fauna of area to enable proper evaluation of development impact on the habitat, occurring plant and animal species within the area; and to identify sensitive habitats and species including threatened and protected species as per IUCN (2022), MTWA (2018) and National Forest and Tree Planting Regulation 2016 schedule 8 protected/reserved species.

Description of the existing baseline conditions within the remnant vegetation patches, including assessment of habitat type and composition, mammal, birds, herptiles (amphibians, and reptiles) and fish assemblages. For this assessment, priority species comprised species of conservation concern identified as listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) yearly published red listed species and the published national list of threatened species by Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA 2018). Other priority species include endemic species, rare species, wetland macrophytes that are characteristic of permanent swamp and invasive species. Our team of experts is dedicated to conducting comprehensive biodiversity assessments to inform conservation and management decisions.

With a profound understanding of ecology, biology, and environmental science, we work together to identify and quantify the diversity of species and ecosystems in a particular area. We undertake assessments using a wide range of methods, including field surveys, remote sensing, genetic analysis, and ecosystem modeling. We work closely with the client and other stakeholders to understand their needs and goals, and provide actionable recommendations for conservation and management.
